West Pullman, Chicago facts for kids

West Pullman is a neighborhood located on the far south side of Chicago, Illinois. It is one of the 77 official community areas that make up the city of Chicago. West Pullman is a separate area and not part of the older, famous Pullman company town.

West Pullman is bordered by 115th Street to the north. To the east, you'll find the area where the old Illinois Central Railroad used to run. The Calumet River and Riverdale are to the south. To the west, West Pullman is next to Calumet Park, Blue Island, and Ashland Avenue.

Local Government in West Pullman

West Pullman is part of Chicago's local government system. The neighborhood is divided into two areas called "wards." These are the 9th Ward and the 34th Ward.

Who Represents West Pullman?

Each ward has an elected official called an "alderman." Aldermen are like local representatives who speak for the people in their ward. They help make decisions about the neighborhood.
