This station is built high above the street. It has three tracks, but only two are used regularly for trains. The middle track is not used for normal service. There are two platforms, one for trains going north and one for trains going south.

You can see some cool art at the station! The staircase leading to the street has a special stained glass artwork by Romare Bearden. Inside the station, in the waiting area, there are glass block tiles and mosaics that tell you which way is "uptown" or "downtown."

From the platform where trains go north, you can get a great view. You can see the Bronx Whitestone and Throgs Neck Bridges. The Westchester Yard, where subway trains are stored and maintained, is located north of the station.

Station Upgrades

The station is planned to get some cool new features in the future. These upgrades will make it easier for everyone to use. The plans include adding ADA-accessible elevators. This means people using wheelchairs or strollers will be able to get to the platforms easily.

Other planned improvements include:

  • Better cell phone service
  • Wi-Fi access
  • Charging stations for your devices
  • New and clearer signs
  • Brighter lighting

These changes are part of a big plan to make many subway stations better for riders.

Station Exit

The only way to enter or leave the station is through a waiting area under the tracks. After you pass through the turnstiles, a staircase leads you down to the street. This exit is at the corner of Westchester Avenue and Lane Avenue.
