History of the Medical Center

The building that is now Westchester Square Medical Center has a long history. It started as Westchester Square Hospital in 1930.

Changes Over Time

The government tried to close Westchester Square Hospital two times, once in 2006 and again in 2009. Both times, the hospital managed to stay open.

However, in 2013, Westchester Square Hospital finally closed. After it closed, Montefiore Medical Center took over the building. They changed it into a special center for "ambulatory care." This means people can visit for medical help without needing to stay overnight.

Services Offered

Even before it became Westchester Square Medical Center, the hospital offered many services. These included general medical and surgical care. They also had services for new mothers and babies.

After Montefiore took over in 2013, the building was renamed. It became known as the Westchester Square Campus-Montefiore Medical Center.
