Western Sydney Airport facts for kids
The Western Sydney Airport (also known as Badgerys Creek Airport) is an airport in the suburb of Badgerys Creek in Sydney, Australia. The airport is planned to be a 24 hour, curfew-free airport. It would most likely be completed in 2026. The site was officially designed by the Federal Government on 15 April 2014, after years of debate on the location for another airport within the Sydney basin.
The site is within 7 km (4.3 mi) from the Blue Mountains National Park and lies 11 km (6.8 mi) to the east to Warragamba Dam, Sydney's largest drinking water catchment.
