Westlake is nestled between some other interesting Seattle neighborhoods.
- To the west, across Aurora Avenue N., is Queen Anne.
- To the south, past Aloha Street, you'll find South Lake Union.
- To the north, across the Fremont Cut (a waterway), is Fremont.
The main roads that run through Westlake are Dexter Avenue N. and Westlake Avenue N. These roads help people travel north and south through the neighborhood.

Long ago, Westlake was a busy industrial area. Factories and businesses used the lake for shipping and trade.
