Westside Connection was an American hip-hop supergroup. A supergroup is a music group made of members who are already famous from other bands or solo careers. This group was formed by three well-known rappers: Mack 10, WC, and Ice Cube. Their first album, Bow Down, was very popular. It reached number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart in 1996 and sold over a million copies, earning a "platinum" award.

About Westside Connection

Westside Connection started making music together in 1994. Their first appearances were on other artists' albums. They were featured on Mack 10's first album, Mack 10, in a song called "Westside Slaughterhouse". Soon after, they also appeared on WC's album, Curb Servin', in the song "West Up!".

After these collaborations, the group began working on their own album. Their first album, Bow Down, was released on October 22, 1996. It quickly became a big hit.

Even while working as Westside Connection, Mack 10, WC, and Ice Cube also continued their own solo music careers. They released many songs on their own. As a group, Westside Connection also made songs for movie soundtracks and other music collections. Some of these songs include "Bangin'" from West Coast Bad Boyz II and "Let It Reign" from Thicker than Water. They also made "It's the Holidaze" for the movie Friday After Next.

On December 9, 2003, Westside Connection released their second album, Terrorist Threats. The most popular song from this album was "Gangsta Nation". This song was produced by Fredwreck and featured the singer Nate Dogg.

Why the Group Ended

In 2005, Mack 10 left the group because of a disagreement with Ice Cube. After this, Westside Connection officially broke up. However, Ice Cube and WC continued to work together on each other's music projects.

There were some talks in 2008 about Westside Connection possibly getting back together. There was an idea for a new rapper, The Game, to join Ice Cube and WC. The Game had worked with WC on Ice Cube's album Raw Footage. But this plan for a reunion never happened.

In 2023, Ice Cube confirmed that a reunion of Westside Connection is not likely to happen.

Music Albums

Westside Connection released two main studio albums during their time together. These albums were very successful and helped them become well-known in hip-hop music.
