History of Westwood Train Station

Westwood station first opened a long time ago, on March 4, 1870. It was part of the New Jersey and New York Railroad. This railroad line was about 21 miles (34 km) long. It ran from Pavonia Terminal to Hillsdale.

The first station building was used until 1932. After many years, a new station was built. It opened on November 13, 1932. In 2020, the station was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means it is an important historical site.

How the Station is Set Up

The station has one train track. It also has one platform where people wait for the train. This platform is next to Veteran's Memorial Park. Its northern end is at Washington Avenue. The southern end is at Jefferson Avenue.

The town of Westwood manages the parking for the station. You need a special permit to park there. There are three parking lots available. They have 35, 67, and 104 parking spots.

The train track is called Track 1. Trains going towards Spring Valley (like the one stopping at Hillsdale) use this track. Trains going towards Hoboken (like the one stopping at Emerson) also use this track. When the train stops, its doors will open on either the left or right side of the platform.
