History of the Park

Wet N' Wild Waterworld first opened in 1979. A businessman named Berry H. Edwards started it. He bought a campground in Anthony, Texas. His son suggested adding a waterslide to the campground's pool. Mr. Edwards then visited another water park to get ideas.

Early Days and Growth

He installed two waterslides at his campground. They were called "Blue Streak" and "Corkscrew." A powerful diesel engine helped pump the water. The park was first named Wet N Wild Waterslides. It cost $2.50 to ride the two slides for half an hour. In 1980, the park added more attractions. These included the 12-foot deep Volcano Lake. A water zip line was also added. After these additions, Mr. Edwards changed the name. It became Wet N Wild Waterworld.
