Whale's Tale Water Park is a fun water park in Lincoln, New Hampshire, United States. It covers about 17-acre (6.9 ha) of land. This park has lots of exciting rides for everyone in the family to enjoy! Whale's Tale has been open for over 25 years and was even called the "Best in Class Waterpark in America" by Aquatics International magazine.

Awesome Water Rides

This park has 11 cool attractions, with new ones added over the years like Shipwreck Island in 2010, Poseidon's Voyage in 2013, and Akua Beach in 2017. There are rides for all ages, even a special pool for little kids called Whale Harbor. It's only 16 inches (0.4 m) deep and has four small waterslides and three water fountains for toddlers to splash around in.

Here are six of the main waterslides you can try:

  • The Banzai Pipeline: Get ready for a thrilling ride! You start in a closed tube, then zoom up to a peak before sliding backward down the rest of the slide.
  • The Poseidon's Voyage: This long slide begins with a super steep drop from a "SkyBox" capsule. You'll spiral down into a 360-degree loop before splashing into the pool.
  • Harpoon Express: Grab a raft with 1 to 3 people for this 400-meter-long (1,300 ft), 7-foot-wide (2.1 m) bobsled-style tube ride.
  • The Beluga Boggin: A 360-meter (1,180 ft), figure-8 shaped waterslide that's perfect for younger children.
  • The Plunge: Race your friends on this double slide! You can reach speeds up to 40 miles per hour (64 km/h) as you slide down.
  • Downpour: This 430-meter-long (1,410 ft) winding slide starts 50 meters (160 ft) high in the air. It's also connected to The Plunge.

Other fun attractions include Shipwreck Island, which has seven waterslides and many water sprays. Hundreds of people can play there at the same time!

Willie's Wild Waves is a big wave pool with both shallow and deep areas.

Jonah's Escape is a relaxing, gentle river ride. You can float along under soft waterfalls.

Whale's Tale is one of the few water parks with an "eye of the storm" ride. You slide through a closed tube, then spin around a giant bowl several times before dropping through a hole into a pool below.

Remember, some rides have weight rules, so check before you go!

Tasty Food Options

When you get hungry, Whale's Tale has two main places to eat and one main drink spot. There's also an outdoor bar and restaurant, plus other snack stands.

  • The Porthole Pizzeria serves yummy pizzas, subs, fried dough, Dippin' Dots ice cream, and draft beer.
  • Harborside Café offers burgers, chicken fingers, fries, salads, sandwiches, and drinks.
  • The Oasis Beach Bar & Grill has mixed drinks, smoothies, and bottled or draft beer, but only when the weather is good.
  • You can also find more Dippin' Dots ice cream at a special ice cream stand.

You can bring your own food and drinks in a cooler, but no glass containers or alcohol are allowed. Park staff will check coolers at the front gate. All drinks must be in factory-sealed containers.

The park prefers that visitors buy food from their locations, but bringing your own is allowed under these rules.

More Fun Things to Do

Besides the rides, there are other cool spots at Whale's Tale:

  • Castaway Cove: This is a special 85-foot (26 m) heated pool shaped like a whale. The water is kept at a warm 88 °F (31 °C), and you can even sit on underwater benches! It's surrounded by three large hot tubs, all heated to 104 °F (40 °C), with tables nearby if you want service.
  • Cabanas: You can rent a cabana for the day, but they are first-come, first-served. Each cabana has a 10-foot (3.0 m) shaded area with screens that can be pulled down, a lunch table with four chairs, two lounge chairs, and a small cocktail table. They are located around the beach and Castaway Cove.
  • Green Areas: All around the park, there are big grassy areas where visitors can relax. You can bring your own chairs and blankets to set up for the day.
  • Breakers Surf Shop: This is the park's 2,500-square-foot (230 m2) gift shop. You can find all your beach needs here, like toys, sunglasses, souvenirs, and more!

Safety and Weather Info

The staff at Whale's Tale are well-trained and certified by organizations like the American Red Cross, ServSafe, and Certified Pool Operators. It's important for all visitors to follow the park rules to stay safe.

If the weather gets really bad and the park has to close early, you'll get a "rain check." This lets you come back another time to make up for the time you missed.
