Whelan is a small, unincorporated community located in Whitman County, in the U.S. state of Washington. An unincorporated community means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's usually managed by the county.
History of Whelan
Whelan had a post office that opened in 1890. This post office helped people send and receive mail in the area for a few years before it closed in 1895. The community was named after an important person who worked for the railroad.
