White's Island is a small island found in Hamilton Harbour in Hamilton, Bermuda. It is special because it is the only island in the harbour that is completely surrounded by the water of the harbour itself.
Island History
White's Island has an interesting past. It was first called Hunt's Island. Over time, it became important for different military uses.
After the United States became independent, the Royal Navy (the British navy) needed new bases. They set up a large naval base called the Royal Naval Dockyard on Ireland Island in Bermuda.
The Royal Navy also bought many smaller islands in the area. These islands included Boaz and Watford islands. They also bought islands in the Great Sound and Hamilton Harbour, including White's Island. For over a hundred years, the British military used these islands for various purposes.
