Whitehill is home to two primary schools: Beckford Primary School and St Paul's Primary School.

Whitehill's Past: A Look at Its History

Even though we don't know the exact date Whitehill began, many of its houses were built in the 1920s and 1930s. These homes were often semi-detached, made from stone and brick. Some other houses, built in the 1940s, were made from timber. This timber was a gift from Norway after the Second World War. Whitehill has always been a place where many working-class families lived. People from different backgrounds, including Irish, Italian, Pakistani, Indian, and Polish families, have made Whitehill their home.

Modern Changes and Improvements in Whitehill

Whitehill has changed a lot since 2004. Many older buildings and houses were taken down to make way for new ones. For example, the local park, library, and sports hall were removed. In their place, new and better houses were built, along with a new community center and a home for older people. The Whistlebury (also known as Whistleberry) part of Whitehill was also rebuilt with new homes. Most people who lived in the old houses moved to other areas in Hamilton or to different parts of Whitehill.

Over 200 houses in Whitehill have been torn down and rebuilt. Other new things in the area include a large supermarket. This supermarket was built where an old brick factory used to be. The Hamilton Academicals football stadium was also rebuilt nearby. More recently, a new Holy Cross High School was built in the Bothwell Road Park. This new school replaced the older one on Muir Street in town. The supermarket is located on the former site of Douglas Park, which was once the home of the Accies football team, and the old Barrow Works. The Brickworks factory was on Auchenraith Avenue, near May Street and the entrance to the public park. Bothwell Road Park also has a new center that helps people with dementia. This center is named after two local council members.

Whitehill is also where you can find the Whitehill Stores Ltd shop, a takeaway and cafe, a hairdressers, and a chapel.
