Whiteland is in the north-central part of Johnson County. It is about 19 miles (31 km) south of Indianapolis. Because it is close to Indianapolis, Whiteland is part of the larger Indianapolis metropolitan area. You can reach Whiteland by taking I-65 (exit 95) or U.S. 31.

History of Whiteland
Whiteland was officially planned and laid out in 1863. Joel B. White and others were involved in creating the town. The very first school in Whiteland was built in 1869. This school was the only one in town for a long time, until a high school was built in 1957.
