Early Life and Education

Whitmore Acton was the oldest son of Sir Edward Acton, 3rd Baronet. He went to college at St Edmund Hall, Oxford, which is a part of the famous Oxford University. He also studied law at a place called the Middle Temple. When his father passed away in 1716, Whitmore became the 4th Baronet. This meant he inherited his father's title and responsibilities.

Home and Public Role

Sir Whitmore Acton lived at a grand house called Aldenham Park. This beautiful estate was located near the town of Bridgnorth. He also held an important local job. From 1727 to 1728, he was the High Sheriff of Shropshire. A High Sheriff was a very old and respected role, responsible for keeping peace and order in the county. They also helped with legal matters and elections.

Family Life

Sir Whitmore Acton married Lady Elizabeth Gibbon. She was the daughter of Matthew Gibbon, who lived in Putney, Surrey. Together, they had several children:
