Whittier Cinclair Atkinson (born April 23, 1893 – died January 2, 1991) was an American doctor. He was a general practitioner, which means he was a family doctor. Dr. Atkinson is famous for starting the Clement Atkinson Memorial Hospital in Coatesville, Pennsylvania.
This hospital opened in 1936 and closed in 1978. It was created to help African American people in the community. At that time, many hospitals treated people unfairly because of their race. Dr. Atkinson's hospital made sure everyone could get the medical care they needed.
Dr. Atkinson studied at Howard University College of Medicine. In 1927, he became the first Black doctor in Chester County. He also led two medical groups for African American doctors.
