The Church's Early Days
The first members of the Baptist church in Wick met in a small room. This room was in a building on Kirk Lane. Later, they moved to a bigger room. This new spot was above a bakery called Bows Baker Shop.
Building a New Home
Eventually, the church built its own building. This was on High Street. However, this building is no longer there. It was taken down during a big town renovation in the 1970s. In 1865, the Baptist group moved again. They went to a newly built church on Union Street. The old High Street building was then used as a Mission Hall.
A Modern Home for the Church
In the 1980s, another church in Wick closed. This was the Pulteneytown Central Church on Dempster Street. In 1998, the Wick Baptist Church moved into this building. It was completely updated and made modern. This move happened when Reverend Angus Morrison was leading the church.
What Happens at the Church Today
The church is very active. It holds two services every Sunday. Services are special meetings for worship and teaching. The church also has groups for young people. There are clubs for parents and toddlers too. During the week, there is a meeting for prayer and Bible study.
