The Story of Wilcox: Its History

Wilcox was officially started in 1879. It was named after a person named B. S. Wilcox, who was one of the very first people to settle in the area. A year later, in 1880, a post office was opened in Wilcox. This post office helped people send and receive letters and packages for many years. It stayed open and served the community until 1954.
