History of Burlington Junction
Burlington Junction was started in 1879. It got its name from a Burlington railroad junction. A railroad junction is where train tracks meet or cross. A post office has been open in Burlington Junction since 1879.
The Possum Walk Hotel is a historic building in the city. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. This list includes important places that are worth saving for the future.
Geography and Location
Burlington Junction covers about 1 square mile (2.59 square kilometers) of land. It is located in the northwest part of Nodaway County.
The city is about 4.5 miles southwest of Clearmont. It is also 12 miles northwest of Maryville. US Highway 136 and Missouri Route 113 meet in Burlington Junction.
