In 1665, when he was about 30 years old, William was called to join the Irish House of Lords. This was a special part of the Irish Parliament where noble people like him helped make laws. He was given the title Baron Ardee at this time.

Important Roles and Titles

From 1671 until his death, William held the position of Custos Rotulorum of County Dublin. This was a significant role, like being the chief keeper of the county's records and peace.

In 1672, he served as a captain in a military group called Sir Arthur Forbes's Regiment of Horse. This shows he was involved in the military affairs of the time.

By 1674, William became a member of the Privy Council of Ireland. This was a group of trusted advisors to the monarch, helping with important decisions for the country. In 1675, he officially took over his father's title, becoming the Earl of Meath.

His Family Life

William Brabazon married Lady Elizabeth Lennard. She was the daughter of Francis Lennard, 14th Lord Dacre. William and Elizabeth had two daughters together. After William's death in March 1684, his brother, Edward Brabazon, became the next Earl of Meath.
