William John Ellis Cox (born 1 April 1936) is an Australian politician and a very important person in the state of Tasmania. He held the special job of Governor of Tasmania from 15 December 2004 to 2 April 2008. Before that, he was the state's top judge, known as the Chief Justice, and also the Lieutenant Governor.
