William Davis Allison (born in 1861, died April 1, 1923) was an American lawman. He worked as a lieutenant for the Arizona Rangers from 1903 to 1904.

Early Life and Career
William Allison was born in Ohio. He later moved to Texas. In Texas, he worked as a cowboy and a wrangler, which means he handled horses.
Becoming a Young Sheriff
People liked William Allison because he was sharp and good at his job. In 1888, he was chosen to become the sheriff of Midland County, Texas. He was the youngest sheriff in Texas at that time. He served as sheriff for ten years.
Working as a Marshal and Ranger
After being a sheriff, Allison became the city marshal in Roswell, New Mexico. In 1903, he joined the Arizona Rangers. The captain of the Arizona Rangers, Thomas H. Rynning, hired him. William Allison served as a lieutenant with the Rangers.
Before joining the Rangers, he also worked for three years as an inspector for the Texas Cattle Raisers. Later, he was a deputy sheriff in Chaves County, New Mexico.
Later Years and Legacy
William Allison retired from the Arizona Rangers in 1904. He then settled back in Texas. In 1917, he was named a "Special Texas Ranger." He worked with another inspector named Horace L. Roberson.
In April 1923, William Allison was killed in Seminole, Texas. He was a brave lawman who dedicated his life to keeping communities safe.
