What is the Boeing House?

This famous house is named after William Boeing. He was the person who started The Boeing Company. He called his house Aldarra.

How the House Looks

The house was designed by an architect named Charles Bebb. It is built in a style called Mediterranean Revival. This means it looks like houses from countries around the Mediterranean Sea.

The outside of the house is white. It has a red tile roof. Inside, there are eight fireplaces. The house is very big, about 19,000 square feet.

History of the Boeing House

William Boeing lived in this house for a long time. He lived there from when it was built in 1914 until 1954. After that, he moved to another home.

What Happened Next

In 1954, William Boeing gave the house away. He donated it to a hospital called Children's Orthopedic Hospital. Today, this hospital is known as Seattle Children's.

The hospital later sold the house. It was bought by a person named John Elroy McCaw. After he passed away, the house was sold again.

Today, the William E. Boeing House is a private home. This means people cannot visit it. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This shows it is a very important historical building.
