The William F. Norton House is a special old building located at 1 Stanley Avenue in Kingfield, Maine. It was built in 1900 by two brothers, William and Lavella Norton. This house is a great example of the fancy Queen Anne style of architecture. It even has a unique square tower that people think is the only one like it in Maine!

What Does the House Look Like?
The Norton House sits on the east side of Stanley Avenue, a quiet street near the center of Kingfield. It's a large, two-and-a-half-story building made of wood. It has a complex roof design with several gables, which are the triangular parts of a wall under a sloping roof.
Special Tower and Details
One of the most interesting parts is a tall, three-story square tower. At the very top of the tower, there's a fancy wooden railing called a parapet. The outside of the house is covered with different types of wooden shingles, including some decorative ones with cool patterns. The lower parts of the house are covered in clapboards, which are long, thin boards. The whole building rests on a strong foundation made of granite stone.

The house was built between 1900 and 1901 by Lavella Norton. He was a very skilled builder who also worked on other important buildings in the area, like the Amos G. Winter House.
Inside the Norton House
Lavella's brother, William Norton, was in charge of all the beautiful woodwork inside the house. He created a molded oak arch, which is a curved doorway made of wood. The dining room floor is also very special, with a unique pattern made from different types of wood. Even the kitchen cabinets and moldings are made from a pretty wood called birdseye maple.
