Hon. William Feilding (1669–1723) was an English politician who lived a long time ago. He was a member of the Whigs, which was a political group in England. He served in the English House of Commons and later the British House of Commons from 1705 until he passed away in 1723.

Early Life and Family

William Feilding was born in 1669. He was the second son of William Feilding, 3rd Earl of Denbigh and his mother, Mary King. His family was quite important.

When he was 16, in 1686, he went to Queen's College, Oxford, a famous university. Before becoming a politician, he worked as a Lieutenant of the Yeomen of the Guard from 1704 to 1708. This was a special group that protected the King or Queen.

His Marriage

In 1705, William Feilding married Lady Diana Howard. She was a wealthy woman and had a connection to a parliamentary seat. This marriage helped him start his political career. They did not have any children together.

A Career in Parliament

William Feilding became a Member of Parliament (MP) for a place called Castle Rising. An MP is someone who is chosen by people to represent them and make laws in the country's parliament.

He was first elected in 1705 without anyone running against him. He was re-elected many times, in 1708, 1710, 1713, 1715, and 1722. This shows he was a consistent presence in the House of Commons.

Special Role in Government

In 1716, William Feilding was given a special job for life. He became the clerk comptroller of the Green Cloth. This role involved managing the royal household's expenses and arrangements.

Later Life

William Feilding passed away in Epsom on September 21, 1723. He was buried in Ashtead, Surrey.
