William Forster was the son of Sir Humphrey Forster. His family lived at Aldermaston House in a place called Berkshire, England. William also had a son who became famous, named Sir Humphrey Forster.
William went to university at Oxford University to get an education. He also studied law at a special place called Lincoln's Inn. This helped him prepare for his future work in government.
Becoming a Politician
In 1572, William Forster was chosen to be a Member of Parliament (often called an MP). This meant he represented the area of Berkshire in the English Parliament. An MP's job was to help make laws and discuss important issues for the country.
Before becoming an MP, in 1569, William was given another important job. He was made the High Sheriff of Berkshire. The High Sheriff was like a main law officer for the county. They helped keep the peace and made sure laws were followed.
Family and Later Life
William Forster was married to a woman named Jane. Her father was Sir Anthony Hungerford of Down Ampney. William and Jane had a big family together. They had five sons, and one of them was his heir, also named Humphrey. They also had three daughters.
