William Glasier was the oldest son of another important person, William Glasier from the Isle of Man. His father was even the Mayor of Chester from 1551 to 1552. William Glasier's mother was Jane Fletcher.

He studied law at a place called the Inner Temple. William Glasier was married twice. His first wife was Elizabeth Aglionby. They had two daughters and two sons together. One of their sons, Hugh Glasier, also became a Member of Parliament for Chester. William's second wife was named Alice.

Glasier's Political Career

William Glasier had a busy career in politics. He was elected as a Member (MP) for different areas in the Parliament of England.

  • He was an MP for St Ives in 1563.
  • Later, he served as an MP for Chester in 1571 and again in 1572.
  • He also became the mayor of Chester from 1602 to 1603. This was a very important job in his local community.
