Early Art Career

William Groombridge started showing his paintings at the Royal Academy in London in 1770. This was a very important place for artists to display their work. However, his bigger paintings were not always as successful or well-liked.

Around 1780, William Groombridge moved from London to Canterbury, another city in England. He showed his art for the last time in 1790. Besides painting, he also wrote a book of poems called Sonnets, which was published in London in 1789.
