Sir William Henry Tucker Luce (born August 25, 1907 – died July 7, 1977) was an important British official. He had a brother named Sir David Luce, who also had an important career. Sir David became the First Sea Lord, which is the professional head of the Royal Navy. William Luce also has a famous granddaughter, the comedian Miranda Hart.
Leading Aden
Before his time in Aden, William Luce worked in Sudan. There, he advised the Governor-General on how the country should be run and how it should deal with other nations. He was given the title of Knight in 1956 for his work.
After his service in Sudan, Sir William Luce became the Governor of Aden. He held this important position for four years, from 1956 to 1960. As Governor, he was in charge of the colony and its military forces.
Later Career and Family
After his time as Governor of Aden, Sir William Luce took on another significant role. From 1961 to 1966, he served as the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf. This job involved representing British interests and managing relationships with various states in that region.
Sir William Luce married Margaret Napier. Her father, Trevylyan Napier, was also a high-ranking naval officer. William and Margaret had two children:

- Diana Luce, who married David Hart Dyke. Diana is the mother of the comedian Miranda Hart.
Sir William Luce passed away in 1977 when he was 69 years old.
