William King was born on January 30, 1949. He is an American singer, musician, and a choreographer. He is one of the original members of the famous music group, the Commodores.
In the Commodores, William King plays several instruments. These include the trumpet, guitar, synthesizer, flute, and congas (a type of drum). He also helps create the dance moves for the group.

After high school, William King went to Tuskegee University. While he was there, he was a very good tennis player. He even thought about becoming a professional tennis player.
However, he decided to follow his passion for music instead. He chose to continue his journey with the Commodores. William King also had a job writing computer software. But he gave that up too to focus on the band.
Songs William King Helped Create
William King has helped write many songs. Two of his well-known songs are "Lady" and "I'm In Love". He wrote both of these songs with Harold Hudson. His wife, Shirley Hanna-King, also helped write them.
The song "I'm In Love" was released in 1985. It was the "B-side" to another song called "Janet". A B-side is a song that is usually on the back of a music single.
