William D. "Bill" Magee (born June 21, 1939 – died December 24, 2020) was an important politician from New York. He was a member of the New York State Assembly for many years, representing his local area from 1991 to 2018. He was part of the Democratic Party.
About William Magee
William Magee lived his whole life in the Town of Nelson. After finishing high school, he went to Cornell University. In 1961, he earned a degree in agricultural economics. This means he studied how farming and money work together.
After college, Bill Magee became an auctioneer and a businessman. He worked in Madison County, New York, helping people buy and sell things through auctions.
Starting in Politics
In 1972, Bill Magee decided to get involved in local government. He was elected to the Madison County Board of Supervisors. This group helps manage the county's affairs. He served on the board for 19 years.
During some of these years, from 1985 to 1990, he also worked at the New York State Fair. This is a big event that celebrates New York's agriculture and culture.
