William de Lanvallei III was an important English noble who lived a long time ago. He passed away in 1217. William owned a lot of land and was in charge of Colchester Castle, a big fortress. He was also known as the lord of Walkern in Hertfordshire.

William III worked closely with King John of England. He even went with the King on a trip to Poitou, France, in 1214. William III was also involved with the Magna Carta. This was a very important document that limited the king's power. It also protected the rights of people in England. William III helped make sure the rules of the Magna Carta were followed. He was also related to some of the powerful nobles who helped create this document.
