Willie B. Cochran was born in 1953. He is an American politician who also worked as a police officer in Chicago. Mr. Cochran served as an alderman for Chicago's 20th Ward from 2007 until 2019. An alderman is like a city council member who helps make decisions for a specific part of the city.

Early Life and Education
Willie Cochran grew up in a large family, being one of ten children. He went to Eastern Illinois University and graduated in 1975. Later, he earned another degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Career in Public Service
Before becoming an alderman, Mr. Cochran worked for the Chicago Police Department. He joined the police force in 1977 and served until 2003. During his time there, he started as a patrol officer and later became a sergeant.
Serving as Alderman
In 2007, Willie Cochran was elected as the alderman for the 20th Ward in Chicago. He won the election with a lot of support from the voters. He was re-elected two more times, in 2011 and 2015, showing that people in his ward trusted him to represent them.
Representing the 20th Ward
As an alderman, Mr. Cochran represented several important neighborhoods in Chicago. These areas included Woodlawn, Washington Park, Englewood, Grand Crossing, and Back of the Yards. He worked to address the needs and concerns of the people living in these communities. He decided not to run for re-election in 2019.
