Willie Hunter is a former American football player and coach. He is known for leading the Clark Atlanta University football team. He was their head coach from 1990 to 1996.

Willie Hunter's Football Journey
Willie Hunter played college football at Fort Valley State College. He also played professionally for a team called the Atlanta Spartans. This was in 1964, and they were part of the Atlantic Coast Football League.
Coaching in High School
After his playing days, Hunter became a teacher and football coach. He worked in the Atlanta Public Schools system for 33 years. During this time, he coached high school football. His high school coaching record was very impressive, with 101 wins and only 25 losses.
Coaching at Clark Atlanta
In 1989, Hunter left his high school coaching job. He then joined Clark Atlanta University as the defensive coordinator. This meant he was in charge of the team's defense.
In January 1990, Willie Hunter became the head coach for the Clark Atlanta football team. He took over from the previous coach, William M. Spencer. As head coach, he was responsible for the entire team.
College Coaching Highlights
During his time as head coach at Clark Atlanta, Hunter led the team for seven seasons. His overall record with the college team was 29 wins, 41 losses, and 1 tie.
One of his biggest achievements was in 1991. That year, his team won the SIAC championship. This was a great success for the Clark Atlanta Panthers under his leadership.
