Wilmott J. Marshall (born December 1, 1930 – died June 2, 2023) was a Canadian ice hockey player. He played as a forward. Willie Marshall is famous for holding many records in the American Hockey League (AHL). He played for 20 seasons in the AHL.
Marshall also played a few seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League (NHL) between 1953 and 1958.
The Willie Marshall Award is named after him. This award goes to the player who scores the most goals in the AHL each season.

Willie Marshall's Hockey Journey
Willie Marshall started his professional hockey career in the 1952–53 season. He joined the Pittsburgh Hornets in the AHL. In his first year, he scored 66 points in 62 games. He helped his team reach the Calder Cup Finals.
Marshall was chosen as a First Team AHL All-Star twice. This means he was one of the best players in the league. He earned this honor in 1956 and again in 1958. In 1958, he won the AHL scoring title. He had his best season with 104 points in 68 games. He was also a Second Team All-Star in 1962.
Marshall won the Calder Cup three times. He won it with Pittsburgh in 1955. He also won it with the Hershey Bears in 1958 and 1959. He is second in AHL history for playoff points. He scored 119 points in 112 playoff games.
Marshall played for several AHL teams. After Pittsburgh, he played for the Providence Reds in 1963. Then he joined the Baltimore Clippers from 1966 to 1971. He finished his career with the Rochester Americans in 1971–72.
He holds many all-time AHL records. These include:
- Most games played: 1,205 games
- Most goals: 523 goals
- Most assists: 852 assists
- Most points: 1,375 points
- Most hat tricks: 25 hat tricks
Marshall scored 570 points in 439 games with the Hershey Bears. His number 16 jersey was retired by the club. This means no other player on the team can wear that number.
In 2006, Willie Marshall was inducted into the AHL Hall of Fame. This is a special honor for great players.
