Willow Meadows is a friendly neighborhood, also called a subdivision, located in the big city of Houston, Texas, in the United States. It's a place where many families live and go to school.

This neighborhood is found in the southwest part of Houston. It's inside a large road called Beltway 8 and near another big road, the 610 Loop. Willow Meadows is close to a shopping center called Meyer Park. It's also near other neighborhoods like Meyerland to the west and Willowbend to the north. The city of Bellaire is just north of Willow Meadows.

Willow Meadows has many streets lined with trees, making it a green and pleasant place. The houses are mostly ranch-style homes, which means they are usually one story and were built about 50 to 60 years ago. Many people who live here work in important places like the Texas Medical Center, Downtown Houston, or Uptown Houston. This makes it a good spot for professionals and teachers. The neighborhood is next to Brays Bayou, a waterway. Sometimes, parts of the northern area might get a little wet from flooding, but usually, it's not as bad as in other nearby places.

Students living in Willow Meadows go to schools in the Houston ISD (Houston Independent School District). This means their schools are part of the public school system.

Elementary School

All younger students in Willow Meadows attend Red Elementary School. This school is actually located in a nearby area called Willowbend. Red Elementary opened in 1957 and is named after a doctor, Samuel Clark Red. It's a special school because it focuses on STEM subjects. This means kids learn a lot about science, technology, engineering, and math there! In 2019, about 600 students went to Red Elementary.

Middle Schools

For middle school, students are usually zoned to Meyerland Performing and Visual Arts Middle School. This school used to be called Johnston Middle School. If students prefer, they can also choose to go to Pin Oak Middle School, which is located in Bellaire.

High Schools

When it's time for high school, where a student goes depends on where they live in Willow Meadows.

  • If you live north of West Bellfort, you will go to Bellaire High School. This school is in the city of Bellaire.
  • If you live south of West Bellfort, you will attend Westbury High School.

Private Schools

There are also some private schools in or very close to the Willow Meadows area:

  • The Robert M. Beren Academy is a school for students from kindergarten all the way through 12th grade. It focuses on Judaic studies.
  • Ms. Wagner's School and Trafton Academy are also in the area. Trafton Academy is located in Willowbend.
  • The Emery/Weiner School is just east of Willow Meadows, next to the Westwood neighborhood.
