The Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum (often called WLTM) is the biggest museum in the world dedicated to tennis. It first opened its doors in 1977 during the 100th anniversary of The Championships. On April 12, 2006, a new and improved museum was officially opened by The Duke of Kent. It is located right inside the famous All England Lawn Tennis Club.
The museum is full of amazing things, some as old as 1555! You can see cool items and touch screen computers to learn more. There are also special items from famous tennis players, from Victorian times until today. These exhibits change throughout the year. Visitors can even feel what it's like to be at Centre Court, except during the actual Wimbledon tournament.
You can take guided tours led by expert Blue Badge guides. These tours take you behind the scenes of the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Audio guides are also available to help you explore. The museum is open to everyone all year. However, during The Championships week, only people with tournament tickets can enter.
