The Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum (also called WLTM) is the biggest museum in the world dedicated to tennis! It first opened its doors in 1977 during the 100th anniversary of The Championships, which is the famous Wimbledon tennis tournament. A newer, bigger museum was opened on April 12, 2006, by The Duke of Kent. You can find it right inside the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis Club in London.
This museum is a fun place to learn about tennis history. It has cool items and displays that go all the way back to the year 1555! You can also use touch screen computers to interact with the exhibits. The museum shows off special items from famous tennis players, from old-time Victorian players to today's stars. These exhibits change throughout the year, so there's always something new to see.
The museum lets you feel like you're right there on Centre Court, where the big matches happen. However, you can't go during the actual Wimbledon tournament. You can also take guided tours with special guides who will show you behind the scenes of the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Audio guides are also available if you prefer to explore on your own. The WLTM is open almost every day of the year. During The Championships week, only people with tournament tickets can enter.
