The Windsor Police Station Stables is a really old building in Windsor, Australia. It used to be a place where soldiers lived and worked. Later, it became a police building. It was built way back in 1836 by a person named Major Barney. Today, the New South Wales Police own it. A Look Back in Time
The area where the Windsor Police Station Stables stands has a long history. Around 1818, the Windsor Military Barracks were set up here. Barracks are buildings where soldiers live. By 1820, soldiers were already using these buildings. More parts were added in the 1830s and 1840s.
The main building we see today was built in 1836. It was constructed by Major Barney. This building was used by the New South Wales Mounted Police. These were police officers who rode horses to do their job.
What the Building Looks Like
This building has two floors. It was designed in a style called Colonial Georgian. This style was popular when Australia was a British colony. The outside walls are made of sandstock brick. These are bricks made by hand, which gives them a unique look.
