Discovering Wohl Rose Park
This large park covers about 19 acres (which is about 77,000 square meters!). It has many different areas for visitors to enjoy. You'll find green lawns, gentle hills, and even some old stone quarries. There's also a pretty pond filled with water plants and fish. You can even see a lovely waterfall, interesting rock gardens, and cool sculptures. One special thing to look for is an ancient mosaic floor from the 6th century. This floor was found in a place called Kibbutz Sde Nahum and brought to the park.
Roses from Around the World
The Wohl Rose Park is famous for its incredible collection of roses. There are over 400 different kinds of roses growing here! Many of these beautiful roses were gifts from countries all over the world.
The park has a special area called the Garden of Nations. In this part, different countries have donated sections. Each section shows off rose varieties that are special to that country or are grown there. It's like taking a trip around the world just by looking at flowers!
Testing New Roses
The park also has an experimental section. This is a very important part of the garden. Here, new types of roses are grown and tested. Scientists and gardeners check to see if these new roses will grow well in Israel's climate. They want to make sure the roses are suitable for other public parks and private gardens across the country.
A Special Welcome Place
The Wohl Rose Park is more than just a garden. It's Jerusalem's official place to welcome important visitors. When leaders and special guests from other countries come to Israel, they are often welcomed right here in the Wohl Rose Park.
