Wolcott (pronounced WUUL-kət) is a small town in Princeton Township, White County, in the state of Indiana, United States. In 2010, about 1,001 people lived there.

Wolcott's Early History

Wolcott was officially planned and laid out in 1861. This happened when the railroad lines were built to reach this area. The town is named after its founder, Anson Wolcott.

An interesting fact is that Anson Wolcott was related to Oliver Wolcott. Oliver Wolcott was a very important person in American history. He was one of the people who signed the Declaration of Independence.

The Historic Wolcott House

The Wolcott House is a famous building in town. It used to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it was recognized as a very important historic site.

The Tri-County Jr-Sr High School is located a few miles southwest of Wolcott. The Tri-County Elementary School is in Remington, Indiana. The Tri-County Intermediate School is located right in Wolcott.

Before the Tri-County School Corporation was formed in the late 1960s, Wolcott had its own schools. These included Wolcott Elementary, Wolcott Junior High, and Wolcott High School. The first class to graduate from the new Tri-County High School was in May 1972.

The town also has a public library, called the Wolcott Community Public Library. It's a great place to borrow books and learn new things.
