Wolfgang Liebeneiner (born October 6, 1905 – died November 28, 1987) was a German actor and director. He directed both movies and plays for the theater. He was a well-known figure in German film and theater for many years.

Early Life and Training
Wolfgang Liebeneiner was born in a place called Liebau, which was then part of Germany. In 1928, he began to learn acting and directing. He was taught by Otto Falckenberg, who was the director of a famous theater in Munich.
Working During the Nazi Era
In 1936, Liebeneiner joined the Prussian State Theater in Berlin. Two years later, in 1938, he became the artistic director of the German Film Academy in Babelsberg. This was a very important role in the film industry at that time.
In 1941, he directed a film called Ich klage an (which means I Accuse). This movie was made with the help of the government's propaganda office. The film was about a woman who wanted to end her life because she was very sick. However, the movie was also used to support a controversial government program. From 1942 to 1945, he earned a special degree while working for Universum Film AG. This was the biggest film studio in Germany at that time.
After the War
After World War II, in 1947, Liebeneiner directed a very important play. It was called The Man Outside by Wolfgang Borchert. This play was shown for the first time at the Hamburg Kammerspiele theater.
In 1956, he had a big success with a movie called The Trapp Family. This film became very popular.
Wolfgang Liebeneiner passed away on November 28, 1987, in Vienna, Austria, after being ill for some time.

Wolfgang Liebeneiner was married two times. His first wife, from 1934, was an actress named Ruth Hellberg. Later, in 1944, he married another actress, Hilde Krahl. They had a daughter together, Johanna Liebeneiner, who also became an actress, following in her parents' footsteps.
