Woodside has a history that goes back many years. A post office was opened there in 1856. A post office is where people send and receive letters and packages. This post office served the community for a long time, staying open until 1916. The name "Woodside" comes from one of the very first people to settle in the area, a pioneer named J. R. Woodside. A pioneer settler is someone who is among the first to move to and build a home in a new place.
