How Woodson Got Its Name

The name Woodson comes from a place called Woods Landing. This landing was on Westport Slough. It was named after a man whose last name was Wood.

Mr. Wood used to bring many logs to this area. He would then put them into the slough. These logs were then made into large rafts. The rafts were floated down the river to sawmills.

Natural Events in Woodson

In December 2007, Woodson experienced some natural challenges. Heavy rain caused Eilersten Creek to overflow. This led to mud and debris covering Woodson Road, which is north of the highway. Some people had to leave their homes for safety during this event.
