Woody De Othello (born 1991) is an American artist. He is known for his amazing sculptures made from clay (ceramics) and his paintings. Woody lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area in California.

About Woody De Othello's Early Life and School
Woody De Othello was born in 1991 in Miami, Florida. His family comes from Haiti.
He went to college to study art. Woody earned a special art degree (BFA) from Florida Atlantic University. Later, he got another advanced art degree (MFA) from the California College of the Arts in San Francisco in 2017.
Woody De Othello's Art Career
Woody De Othello started showing his art in 2015. His first solo art show was called It's Going To Be Ok. It was held at a gallery in Florida.
In 2018, his art was part of a big show called "Bay Area Now 8." The San Jose Museum of Art hosted his solo show, Woody De Othello: Breathing Room, in 2019. Another show, Looking In, happened in 2021. It featured his clay sculptures, paintings, and drawings.
One of his most famous artworks is a huge bronze sculpture. It looks like a yellow box fan and is eight feet tall! This piece, called Cool Composition, got a lot of attention at an art fair in Miami in 2019.
In 2022, Woody was chosen for the 2022 Whitney Biennial. This is a very important art exhibition. His art for the Biennial was called The will to make things happen. It included large, exaggerated everyday objects like a radiator. He also made clay pots with hands and legs, making them look like people.
Woody gets ideas for his art from old pottery. He is interested in pots made by enslaved potters like David Drake. He also finds inspiration in ancient Yoruba pottery from Africa.
