World Expo Park was a fun amusement park that opened in Brisbane, Australia. It was built especially for Expo '88, which was a big world fair held in 1988. The park opened on April 30, 1988, the same day the Expo started. If you had a ticket to Expo '88, you could also visit World Expo Park for free!

Where Was World Expo Park?

The park was located in South Brisbane, right on the corner of Melbourne and Glenelg Streets. Today, this spot is where the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre stands. So, if you visit Brisbane now, you can see where this exciting park used to be!

What Rides Did World Expo Park Have?

World Expo Park was known for its thrilling roller coasters. It had three different ones for visitors to enjoy. One was an indoor roller coaster, and two were outdoors.

The Titan Roller Coaster

One of the outdoor roller coasters was called the Titan. This ride had quite a journey after World Expo Park closed! It was later moved to another park called Wonderland Sydney and was renamed The Demon. After that, it traveled all the way to Alabama in the United States, where it became known as the Zoomerang. It's cool how one roller coaster can have so many different homes!

Other Exciting Rides

The other outdoor roller coaster at World Expo Park was named the Centrifuge. This was a special kind of ride called a suspended coaster. This means the cars hung below the track, and they would swing from side to side as they went around turns. Inside the park, there was also an indoor roller coaster called the Supernova.

Why Did World Expo Park Close?

Sadly, World Expo Park didn't stay open for very long. It closed its doors in 1989, just about a year after it opened. The main reason it closed was that it wasn't as popular as people hoped it would be. Even with its cool roller coasters, not enough visitors came to keep it running.
