The World Sport Stacking Association (WSSA) is a group that helps organize and manage the sport of sport stacking around the world. Think of them as the main rule-makers and record-keepers for this fun sport. Their main office is in Larkspur, Colorado, USA.
The WSSA makes sure that sport stacking competitions are fair everywhere. They also keep track of all the fastest times, both for world records and national records.
How the WSSA Started
From Cups to Stacking
The World Sport Stacking Association began in 2001. It was first called the World Cup Stacking Association (WCSA). Bob Fox, who started the company Speed Stacks, created this group. Speed Stacks makes the special cups used in sport stacking.
A New Name for a New Sport
In 2005, the sport of cup stacking officially changed its name to "sport stacking." To match this new name, the WCSA also changed its name. It became the World Sport Stacking Association, or WSSA, which is what it is still called today.
