The Wulpura were an Indigenous Australian group. They lived in the state of Queensland, Australia. They were a part of the many different Aboriginal peoples.
Their language was called Kuku Waldja. Some people think it was a type of Kuku Yalanji. However, there isn't much information about the Kuku Waldja language today.
Where the Wulpura Lived
The Wulpura people lived in a specific area. This land was about 900 square miles (2,330 square kilometers). This information comes from a researcher named Norman Tindale.
Their home was in a rainforest area. This main mountain range was west of Mount Romeo and Boolbun. They also lived near where the Daintree River begins. This area is part of the Mount Windsor tableland.

Someone who knew the Wulpura people described them. They said the Wulpura were generally not very tall. On average, they were about 5 feet (152 cm) tall. They usually weighed around 100 pounds (45 kg).
Annual Journeys
The Wulpura people took part in an annual walkabout. This was a long journey they made each year. They would start near South Mossman.
Their journey would take them through Julatten. They would also travel along the Carbine River. They went as far as the Daintree River. After this, they would return to where they started.
