Wyandot's History

People have lived in Wyandot for a very long time. By 1828, there was already a schoolhouse in the community where children could go to learn.

Later, in 1837, a post office opened in Wyandot. This was an important place where people could send and receive letters and packages. The post office stayed open for many years but eventually closed in 1905.

A notable person named Dr. Charles E. Sawyer was born in Wyandot in 1860. He grew up to become a doctor. Dr. Sawyer was even the personal physician for Warren G. Harding, who later became the President of the United States.
