About XXYYXX's Music Journey
Early Music and First Album
Marcel Everett started his music journey early. In 2011, he released a mixtape called Still Sound. The next year, when he was just 16 years old, he released his self-titled album, XXYYXX. This album became very popular. It included a hit song called 'About You'. This helped him become well-known in the indie music world by late 2013.
Working with Other Artists
XXYYXX has also created remixes for many other musicians. He has remixed songs for artists like Tinashe and Usher. A remix is when a producer takes an existing song and changes it to create a new version.
In 2014, Marcel created a special song for a video game. The song was called "What We Want" and it was featured in the popular game Grand Theft Auto V. This song was added to the game's expanded soundtrack when it was re-released for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
Touring and New Songs
In February 2013, XXYYXX was the main performer at the San Francisco Noise Pop Festival. This is a big event where many different artists perform.
In 2015, Marcel released a new song called "Red". He said that with this song, he was trying to express a certain feeling. He felt he was very successful in doing that.
During 2016, XXYYXX spent a lot of time traveling across the U.S. He played at many big music festivals. These included Shambhala Festival, Beach Goth, Mysteryland, and Ancient Future. He also received credit for his work on Tory Lanez's song "Flex" in 2016.
Continued Creativity
Parts of XXYYXX's songs have been used by other artists. These parts are called "samples." Artists like Chance the Rapper and SZA have used samples from his tracks. In 2017, Marcel Everett started creating even more new music.
