Xegundo Xou da Xuxa (which means Second Xuxa Show in English) is the third music studio album by the famous Brazilian singer, TV host, and actress Xuxa Meneghel. It was released on June 23, 1987, by Som Livre. This album was a huge success! It sold more than 2.75 million copies. It became one of the most popular albums of Xuxa's career, selling even more than her previous album, Xou da Xuxa, which came out in 1986.
Making the Album
For this album, Xuxa received about 900 songs from many different writers. Imagine having to choose from so many! Out of all those songs, between 15 and 20 were recorded. In the end, 13 songs were chosen for the album. Xuxa said it was very hard to pick the songs because she liked most of them. The whole album was recorded in just 20 days. That's super fast!
One of the songs, "Festa do Estica e Puxa," was written by the band Chiclete com Banana. The singer from the band, Bel Marques, had promised to write a song for Xuxa.
Xegundo Xou da Xuxa was created by Michael Sullivan and Paulo Massadas. Max Pierre helped to guide the artistic side of the project.
Promoting the Album
Xuxa performed almost all the songs from the album on her TV show, "Xuxa's Xuxa program." However, she only sang a few of them herself, mostly the main songs released as singles. She also promoted the album on the popular TV show Os Trapalhões.
Besides being played on radio and TV, Xuxa went on a tour to promote the album. The tour started on August 27, 1987, in São Paulo. It ended in December of the same year.
