Xou da Xuxa 3 (which means Xuxa Show 3 in English) is the fourth music album by the famous Brazilian singer and TV host, Xuxa. It was released on June 30, 1988, by Som Livre. This album became the most successful one in Xuxa's career, selling over 3.2 million copies! It's the second best-selling album ever in Brazil. The only album that sold more was Músicas para Louvar o Senhor by Father Marcelo Rossi. This makes Xou da Xuxa 3 the best-selling album in Brazilian history by a female artist.
The album features many popular songs like "Arco-íris", "Abecedário da Xuxa", "Brincar de Índio", and especially "Ilariê". "Ilariê" is still Xuxa's most famous song today. The album became a huge hit in Latin America. "Ilariê" stayed at number one on the Brazilian music charts for 20 weeks! It was one of the most played songs on the radio, along with "Faz Parte do Meu Show" by Cazuza. At the time, Xou da Xuxa 3 was the top-selling album, according to a research company called Nelson Oliveira Pesquisas de Mercado.

How the Album Was Made
The Xou da Xuxa TV show was one of the most successful children's programs in Brazilian history. Xuxa first became a TV host in 1983 on a show called Clube da Criança.
When Xuxa released her first album, Xou da Xuxa, in 1986, she became a huge music star. By Christmas 1986, her first album had sold over two million copies. This set a record for sales in South America.
Xou da Xuxa 3 was created by Michael Sullivan and Paulo Massadas. The album was recorded at the SIGLA studios (which belongs to Som Livre). The songs for the album were chosen very carefully. Xuxa's manager, Marlene Mattos, listened to about 200 songs from all over Brazil. She picked 16 of them. These songs were then played on TV Globo's show, and public school students gave their opinions. Finally, 14 songs were chosen for Xou da Xuxa 3.
Some of the songs included:
- "Arco-íris": This was the main song for the movie Super Xuxa Contra Baixo Astral.
- "Ilariê": This became Xuxa's biggest commercial hit.
- "Brincar de Índio"
- "Abecedário da Xuxa": This song was specially recorded to be shown on TV for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
